TOLLAND, CT — The latest installment of the Picture Tolland series takes us back to the town's first motorized fire truck.
The 1919 Pierce Arrow car was converted into a fire truck by Tolland Firemen in 1930.
The vehicle was equipped with axes, nozzles, fire extinguishers, ladders, and two "agriculture -type" hand pumps.
The truck pictured was replaced by a 1934 Ford pumper in 1934 and later sold.
